SMYRNA - Russel L. Donohew, of Smyrna, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 69.
He was born in Ohio, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Donohew was employed as a supervisor with Occidental Chemical Co., Delaware City, for 35 years, retiring in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. He also liked to work on small engines and lawnmowers.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a hard-working and giving person whose family was the most important thing in his life.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russel L. Donohew Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joyce M. Donohew; three sons, Bill Donohew, of Hilton Head, S.C., David Donohew and Tony Donohew, both of Ohio; a daughter, Donella Berryman, of Smyrna; a sister, Pat Phillips, of Columbus, Ohio; a grandson, Anthony Berryman, of Smyrna; two brothers-in-law, James A. Yarnell, of Hilton Head, and Richard A. Yarnell, of Clayton; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Jaminson, of Clayton.
Services will be held 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 7 p.m.
Interment will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be sent to Citizens Hose Co., PO Box 97, Smyrna, DE 19977.
