FREDERICA - Roy T. Huff, of Frederica and formerly of Sodus, New York passed away peacefully at the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford on Monday, November 08, 2021.
Born March 13, 1931 Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel W. Huff and Pearl E. Faatz (Huff) of Sodus, New York; and his wife of 57 years, Ginette, in 2012.
Roy joined the military as a young teenager and dedicated 20 years of his life to the United States military before retiring in 1972. While his official capacity ended then, he never strayed far from the military, retiring in Dover where he remained committed to doing everything possible at the base rather than the civilian world. After the Air Force, and in keeping with his Security Police role in the military, he worked for the State of Delaware starting as a Correctional Officer in 1972 and working his way up to the rank of Captain at the time of his retirement in 1989. After his work life, Roy enjoyed his garden, going fishing and was always working on lawnmowers and fixing bicycles in his spare time. One of his favorite past times in later years was walking his dogs around the neighborhood where he'd stop and talk to neighbors on his rounds.
Roy is survived by his three children, his son, John and wife Mei of Magnolia; and his daughters, Carol of Melfa, Virginia, and Nicole and husband Dan of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Many thanks to the staff of Delaware Veterans home for their respect, compassion and kindness during my Dads stay there keeping him safe during the COVID pandemic.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del.; where family and friends may view from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Interment with Full Military Honors, will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
Condolences may be sent via: www.pippinfuneralhome.com
