Roundup: Camden-Wyoming forces second Senior title game; Smyrna-Clayton takes Junior crown

Camden-Wyoming downed MOT, 10-1, on Sunday evening to force a second championship game to decide the District I title in Senior League baseball.

The two squads are slated to play again on Monday at Camden-Wyoming at 7 p.m. to decide the championship.

The winner earns a berth in the state tournament in Little League’s age division for 14-16 year olds. That tournament starts on July 7 at Newark National.

C-W (3-1), which won its second-straight elimination game, got two hits apiece from Dennis Wilson, Logan Simmons, Makai Parker and Connor Heritage. Quin Collin (7 strikeouts in 4.2 innings), Cole Beaver and Zayne Collins combined to limit MOT to one run.

Adam McDowell and Thomas Finnegan combined to strike out nine for MOT (3-1) while Matthew Kane and Jackson Honeycutt had two hits each.

Camden-Wyoming 12, Dover 2: C-W earned its spot in the finals with the victory over Dover on Saturday.

Winning pitcher Connor Heritage and Parker White both went 3-for-3 with three RBI for Camden-Wyoming. Quin Collins and Zack Raiche also pitched in relief.

Jahki Jenkins had two hits and an RBI for Dover, which went 3-2 in the tourney.

Junior League

Smyrna-Clayton 9, MOT 6: Smyrna-Clayton captured the District I championship with the win on Saturday.

Smyrna-Clayton, which went 3-0 in the tourney, advances to the state tournament, which starts on July 9 in Sussex County.

Pitcher Carter Smith earned the win after giving up only one hit and three runs over three and two-thirds innings. Reliever Dominic Demarco closed out the contest.

Mason Davis had two RBI for Smyrna-Clayton while Frank Furr, V, Cameron Miller, Coleman Yates, Tanner Harris, Davis, and Aidan Montgomery each collected one hit.

MOT got two hits and two RBI from Bryce Alleman.

Major League softball

Camden-Wyoming 10, Smyrna-Clayton 1: C-W reached the District I finals with the win on Sunday night.

Camden-Wyoming (2-1) will face MOT (3-0) on Monday at 7 p.m. at Dover in the title game.

C-W needs a victory to force a second game on Tuesday night.

Smyrna-Clayton 12, Felton-Harrington 11: Trailing by a run, Smyrna-Clayton scored seven runs in the fifth before holding on for the win on Saturday.

Avery Garcia went 2-for-3 while Hailey Arrighi, Viola Kilpatrick, and Paisley Cobb had two RBI apiece for Smyrna-Clayton Little Lass. Alexis Cool and Sophia Robles both stole multiple bases.

Kennedy Thompson led Felton-Harrington with two RBI while Brooklyn Eastman went 3-for-3. Aubrey Hobbs went 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases.

Smyrna-Clayton 19, Milford 5: Smyrna-Clayton used a nine-run fourth inning to take control in the win on Friday.

Reliever Hailey Arrighi struck out seven while Paisley Cobb (3 runs), Arrighi (2 runs), Brianna Cannon and Viola Kilpatrick all reached base three times.
