GEORGETOWN - Rosemary Cummings Gabel Figgs passed away on Wednesday, Apr. 26, 2017, at Milford Memorial Hospital.
The youngest of eight children, Rosemary was the beloved "baby" of the family. She grew up in Stow, Ohio and graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School in Akron, Ohio in 1975. She then moved to Delaware, earned degrees from Del-Tech and Wilmington College and worked as a nurse at Milford Memorial Hospital until she retired due to illness. In Delaware, she enjoyed spending her days gardening and caring for all of God's creatures. But she most enjoyed being with family and was deeply invested in their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert F. "Fred" and Nellie C. Cummings; her aunt, Mary Castello; and her sisters, Catherine Cummings and Maryellen Armbruster.
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 24 years, Jerry Figgs; her son, Christopher Gabel and his wife, Amber Banks Gabel; grandchildren, Landon and Kimber; her sisters, Carol Rementer, Beth Zedney and Joan Weiser; brothers, Harry Cummings and Christopher Cummings; and several dozen nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, who adoringly called her their Great-Aunt Rose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 532 E. Stein Hwy., Seaford. Friends may call at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Two Mill Rd, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806, or the ASPCA Memorial fund at www.aspca.org, or P O Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
