FELTON - Rose Voshell, a wonderful wife, mom, Mom Mom and friend went home to be with her Savior on July 25, 2015. She was surrounded by so many of her family and friends during her final days, each showing her the love she has always shown them.
Born in Denton, MD to Ralph and Florence (Jester) Dill in 1931, Rose grew up with eight brothers and sisters. While she already said goodbye to some of her siblings (Bob, John, Louise and Paul), she was still very close to Bennie (and Bonnie) Dill, Donnie (and Helen) Dill, Virginia Brady and Joyce Voshell. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Clarence E. Voshell.
Rose raised seven children and poured her love and wisdom into their lives. Vivian (and Bob) Bassett, Ron (and Barbara) Voshell, Junior (and Bonny) Voshell, Joe Voshell, Cathy (and Ted) Mermigos, Dorcas Irizarry, and Linda (and Steve) Sands. Whether on a farm, in a parsonage, or for the last 30 years at her home in Felton, she provided a loving environment for her family and was their foundation. That family grew larger and larger over the years with 12 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids.
Rose was an amazing cook. Growing up on a farm, she learned to cook with what they grew and raised on the farm, a skill learned from her mom and perfected by cooking for her own family. The culmination of this expertise was a cookbook her family asked her to put together…although no one could make the recipes taste as good as mom did.
She helped her husband start 4 churches on the Delmarva Peninsula and then spent the last 30 years at Aldersgate Wesleyan Church in Milford, playing the piano, singing and providing counsel for members. In her last months of life, she continued ministering by phone to those in need and hosted Sunday night services in her home.
For above all else in life, Rose loved Jesus and others deeply; and everyone felt that love.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital ICU, especially Danny, Stephanie, Morgan and Tyler, for the loving care given to our mom. During her stay, mom grew to love them as her own and was very appreciative for everything they did for her.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00am in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation Thursday evening from 6 – 8pm. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Flowers are accepted.
