MILTON-Ronald W. "Bill" Wright, Sr. of Milton passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Bill was a lifetime member of the Milton Fire Department for over 60 years; holding numerous positions and offices. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Episcopal Church, Milton. He was born in Oxford, N.Y., son of Floyd and Mabel Wright. Served in the US Coast Guard for 4 years, worked as a lineman for Delaware Electric Coop 39 years retiring in 1998. He enjoyed family gatherings, vacationing in Vermont, visiting Lancaster, Pa., fishing, and laughing. We will miss the beautiful way he sang hymns at St. Johns and for others on their finale. He was a wonderful husband and father; giving of himself without thought. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Doris "Sarge" Scott, Richard "Yogi" Wright, Dorothy Anton-Andrie, Marion Woodrum and Janet Farrell. Surviving Bill is his wife, Arlene "Hess"; sister-in-law, Barbara Wright; brother-in-law, Paul Hess, Jr. and his wife Joyce "Jack"; his children, Karen Ruffner "Stink" and husband, David, Bill Jr. "Dick" and wife, Jill and Dan also "Dick and fiancé, Deborah Hudson Thomas; grandchildren, Laurie "Little Stink" Diesem, Matthew Wright (Lisa), Anthony Hall and wife, Debbie, Billy III, Stacey and Michael "Bud"; great-grandchildren, Katie "Squirt", Brayden, Bryce, Delaynie, Skylar; and of course his golden retriever, "Rosie". The family is so thankful to the members of the Milton Fire Department, Delaware Hospice, his St. John's family and the many friends who have contributed to our wonderful memories. Fireman's funeral will start with a service at Short's Funeral Home, 416 Federal St., Milton on Wednesday Feb. 11th. A visitation will be held that same day where friends and family may call between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Interment will immediately follow the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Milton Fire Hall: Station 85, 116 Front Street, Milton, Del. 19968 or Delaware Hospice Center 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Del. 19963.
