REHOBOTH BEACH - Roland V. Cobb of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Dagsboro, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, in Brandywine Assisted Living, Rehoboth Beach. He was 85.
Mr. Cobb was born in Clarksville, son of the late Vernon and Mary Jane (Rickards) Cobb.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a licensed real estate broker for more than 40 years, owning Cobb Real Estate Co., Dagsboro.
Mr. Cobb served on the board of directors of the Delmarva Poultry Industry for 20 years and received a Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to the poultry industry.
Mr. Cobb also served as chairman on the board of trustees at Bethel Methodist Church, Dagsboro.
He was a member of Doric Lodge 30, Millville, and was a 32nd-degree Mason.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Yvonne C. Cobb, on June 13, 2007.
He is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Berry and her husband Bill of Lewes; a son, Gregory Cobb and his wife Lyn of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Rusnak and her husband Jason of Washington, D.C., Lisa Berry and her fiance Conrad Bennett of Washington, D.C., and Jordan Cobb, Brennan Cobb and Andrea Cobb, all of San Diego; and a sister, Florence Hall of Banner Elk, N.C.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street, Frankford, where family and friends may call after noon.
Interment will be held in Prince George"s Cemetery, Dagsboro.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Roland"s memory to Prince George"s Chapel, c/o Town of Dagsboro, P.O. Box 420, Dagsboro, DE 19939; or to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
