Roger Henry Wilson departed this life on Monday, May 23, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Roger enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950, and while faithfully serving his country, he pursued his education and received his GED through the University of Wisconsin, completing the twelfth grade. Roger was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1954, and two years later, following a laborious time of hard work, he, as a veteran, enrolled into Delaware State College (now university) in Dover, Delaware in September 1956. Prior to going to college, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jean, on July 20, 1956.
Roger graduated from Delaware State College in May 1960, receiving a bachelor of science degree in business administration. In September 1960, Roger was hired as an assistant bookkeeper in the business office. He was promoted to bookkeeper and later became the assistant to the business manager, remaining in that position until his retirement in May of 1991.
Roger was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, Dover, Delaware, and in his later years attended St. Paul UMC Church in Milford, Delaware.
In addition to his parents; Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jean A. Wilson; son, Albert Mathews; daughter, Stephanie R. Jackson; sister, Jennie Hyland; brothers, George Wilson, Gunby "Herbie' Wilson, Evans Wilson and Leon Wilson.
Homegoing service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church, 600 Church Street, Milford, Delaware with at 11 a.m., with viewing two hours prior to service. Interment will be at Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover, Delaware.
