ODESSA - Roberta E. Ridgeway of Odessa, died Thurs., morning, Dec. 9, 2010, at the Pinnacle Rehabilitation and Health Center, Smyrna. She was 83. She was born in Smyrna on July 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Edith Williams. Roberta was a cook at the Checker Inn Diner for many years. Her laugh, smile, and witty sense of humor will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. Her favorite song was "Precious Lord, Take My Hand". She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ridgeway. She leaves to cherish her memory, two brothers, Paul Williams, and Calvin May; a sister, Grace Henry; and loved by many nieces; and nephews, who miss her and treasure her memory always. She is also missed by her friend, Ada Wanamaker, who lived across the street in Odessa. Mrs. Ada was like a sister to "Bert" which she always called her, and was always there for her. Home going services will be held 11 a.m. Wed., Dec. 15, 2010, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, near Townsend. In lieu of flowers, contributions to help defray funeral expenses may be sent to: Sharon Doughty, 34 Claystone Dr., Dover, DE 19901. Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
