ROCK HALL, Md. - Robert E. Fisher Sr. of Rock Hall died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at his home. He was 82.
He was born in Chester, Pa., on April 12, 1925, son of the late Norman and Ethel (Biddle) Fisher.
After high school, Mr. Fisher enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theatre as a medic. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps, serving once again as a medic in the Korean War.
Mr. Fisher returned to his wife, the late Mary Anne (Nucho) Fisher, whom he married April 3, 1948, and they raised their family in Ridley Park, Pa.
Mr. Fisher worked with Scott Paper, now Kimberly Clark, in Eddystone, Pa., from which he retired in 1987, and in 1988 he and his wife moved to Rock Hall.
In Ridley Park, he was a volunteer with the Ridley Park and Chester fire departments.
Mr. Fisher loved camping and was a member of the Elkhart Travelers Association and the Woodchuck Chapter of the FCRV.
He was also a member of the Rock Hall Lions Club and the Salem United Methodist Church, Fairlee.
Mr. Fisher enjoyed crabbing, carpentry and making toys and cookies for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
