IRVING, Texas - Robert E. "Bob" Bethard, of Irving, Texas, passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, at home. He was born June 27, 1930, in Crisfield, Md. A graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, Del., he served in the U.S. Marine Corp., and attended University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in Cinematography and worked many years in the motion picture industry. He was preceded in death by his beloved childhood sweetheart wife, Shirley Dunn Bethard; parents, Clyde and Ruth; and sister-in-law, Kimiko T. Bethard. He is survived by three children, sons, Michael, Grant and daughter-in-law Karen, and daughter, Vanessa Bethard Broxson and son-in-law Damon; twin brother, Bill; brother, Kenneth; sister-in-law, Jane Simpson Bethard; brother-in-law, Jimmy Dunn; six grandchildren, Jared, Andi, and Jake Bethard, Graham Autry, and Wyatt and Tucker Broxson; nephews, Tom Bethard, Jamie, Chris, and Andrew Bethard; and niece, Linda Bethard Whitten. Bob was known as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all; a true gentleman. He enjoyed life, movies and "oldies" music and was always ready to help others in technical photography problems big and small. A great cook, he loved to collect and share recipes. He found much pride in being an Eagle Scout and Marine. Bob will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Services are still pending.
