Robert C. 'Hank' Watson, 77
DOVER - Robert C. "Hank" Watson, of Dover, died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 77.
Mr. Watson was born June 1, 1931, in Dover.
He attended Booker T. Washington School and graduated in 1948. He was an honor student.
Mr. Watson served the country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving from 1952-1956.
After the Navy he attended the School of Electronics, Philadelphia.
Mr. Watson was employed by Diamond Cold Storage until his retirement.
He had a passion to communicate to everyone and he knew no strangers.
Mr. Watson was very knowledgeable in many areas and studied the Bible correspondence courses during his free time.
He loved to read and study the world's problems and would read three to four newspapers daily.
Mr. Watson could discuss thoroughly on most any subject. People would drive up to his house and he would enlighten them with his knowledge.
He was also a great family historian of his family history and knew the history of many other families in the Dover area.
Mr. Watson will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zoar and Estella Watson; and his oldest brother, John "Henry" Watson.
He is survived by two sons, Walter D. Wilson and his wife Diane Carter Wilson of Dover and Ethan "Pete" Wilson and his wife Joann Wilson of Dover; six grandchildren, Joseph Watson of Harrington, Walter Williams of Houston, Tynisha Wilson, David Wilson and Angela Carter, all of Dover, and Tahair Wilson of Portsmouth, Va.; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, William Watson and his wife, the Rev. Dr. Brenda Watson of Yeadon, Pa.; an uncle, Sanford Waters and his wife Ivory Waters of Albany, N.Y.; two aunts, Cora Watson Wright of Smyrna and Loretta Watson Collins of Wilmington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be Tuesday at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear.
