Robert Alphonso Powell Sr.

Middletown - Robert Alphonso Powell Sr. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Powell was born in Dover the son of the late James Steward and Eleanor (Powell) Watson.
He owned his construction business as a carpenter for many years.
Mr. Powell enjoyed carpentry, drag racing, and motorcycle riding.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Benson; brother, Tony Watson; brother, Lloyd Steward.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Williams (Renee) of Milford; daughter, Renee Hudson (Alvin) of Harrington; daughter, Cheryl Burton (Ronald) of Clayton; and a son, Robert A. Powell Jr. (Patricia) of Middletown; and was a loving grandfather to eight grandkids; brothers and sisters, Wendell Watson Sr., Dougie Watson, Getha Watson, Joyce Ann Watson and Lavern Watson. Mr. Powell was also survived by a stepdaughter, Mechelle Gassaway of New Castle; and a longtime lady friend, Bessie Crain of Dover.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming where a viewing will also be held on Monday evening, Jan. 21, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Gibbs Memorial Gardens, Camden.
