LINCOLN - Rita M. Buck passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born on July 20, 1956, in the Bridesburg suburb in Philadelphia to the late Adela and Joseph Baran. Rita graduated from Saint Huberts High School in Philadelphia in 1974. Rita was a homemaker and mother to four children. Later in life, she earned her LPN from Delaware Technical and Community College and continued to persevere in the journey of obtaining her RN. Rita was extremely proud of her accomplishments; Rita began her career in nursing at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. After many years of service, she later worked as an RN at Milford Memorial Hospital in the Rehabilitation Center. Prior to her retirement, Rita was employed by the State Veterans Home in Milford. Rita thoroughly enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening and spending quality time with all of her family and friends, whom she dearly loved. Rita loved hummingbirds and capturing breathtaking photos of them in action at her feeders. Rita was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother (Babci) and friend. Rita will always be remembered for her love of nature, and having such a big heart. She was an amazing woman who touched the lives of many people. Her spirit will live on in the memories of her family and friends. Rita is survived by her ex –husband, Roger Buck; her son, Michael A Buck and his wife, Brigid of Newark; her daughter, Michele T. Warnock and her husband Brian and grandson, Blake of Milford; son, Robert J. Buck and wife Leann and grandsons, Bobby and Scott of Seaford; son, Joseph R. Buck of Lincoln; and her dog, Schatze. She is also survived by her sister, Donna M. Baran of Milford; her aunt, (Cioci) Lena and uncle, John Tepper of Philadelphia; and many extended family and friends. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
