MILTON - Richard R. Reed, Sr. passed away on Wed. Aug. 22, 2012, at home. Richard was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Milton, Del., the son of the late Carl (Reds) and Betty Betts Reed. He worked as an electrification advisor for Delaware Electric Co-op for 41 years retiring Jan. 31, 1997. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting, and stock car racing. He was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge and an associate member of the Milton V.F.W. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Janet Reed; children, Ronda Abraham and husband Richard, Richard R. Reed, Jr. all of Milton; step-children, Brenda Smith of Denton, Janet Shaffer (Bill) of Denton, Steve Lynch of Milton; grandchildren, J.D. McIntyre (Annette), Dylan Reed, Stephanie Lynch (Buddy) and Gabrielle Abraham; step grandchildren, Shane Cohee, Seth Cohee, Tori Comeaux (Brian), Tyler Wood, Talia Hedley, Savannah Pate, Troy Smith, April Stayton, Brian Stayton, Jeramey Lynch, Kasey Lynch (Kenny Clark); great-grandchildren, Kyler McIntyre, Camron McIntyre, Christopher McIntyre and Baylee Lynch; step great-grandchildren, Remy Comeaux, Alyssa Garrett, Zoe Garrett, Carrington Stayton and Kate Clark; and his faithful companion, Jenny. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. or Monday . noon to 2. p.m. Burial will be private In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Concord U.M. Church, P.O. Box 461, Denton, MD 21629 .
