Richard Frank Pfeilmeier, 84
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Richard Frank Pfeilmeier of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Milford, Del., and Wyoming, Del., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, in Mariner Health of Wilmington. He was 84.
Mr. Pfeilmeier was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Philadelphia.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1951 and the Merchant Marines from 1951 to 1953.
Mr. Pfeilmeier retired from Chemical Leman Tank Lines and Dawson Bus lines as a professional truck driver.
He was quite the jokester and story teller and those who came in contact with him would say he kept them smiling and laughing. He was an accomplished accordion player and loved entertaining anyone who wanted to sit and listen.
He was a longtime member of Capital Baptist Church in Delaware and Faith Baptist Church in Wilmington, N.C.
Mr. Pfeilmeier will be missed by all his friends at Haddon Hall in Wilmington, N.C., especially his close friend, Bob Gregory, who was always around to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Pfeilmeier; his mother, Florence (Laird) Pfeilmeier; and his second wife, Constance (Friend) Morton Pfeilmeier.
He is survived by his companion and best friend, Mary Clough and her family; his first wife, Ruth Burdge of Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy R. and John Stout of Carolina Beach, and Marlene and Donnie Evans of Purvis, Miss.; two sons, Richard A. and his companion, Jenny Cutchins of Rocky Point and Robert F. of Butner; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; stepchildren and their spouses, Jean and John Smith, Brenda Guilian, Lori and Tom Lewis of Delaware; and a stepson and his wife, James and Kim Morton of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association of North Carolina, 3801 Lake Boone Trail, Suite 190, Raleigh, NC 27607.
