Richard E. Droddy

ELLENDALE - Richard E. Droddy passed away on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford after a long illness, surrounded by loving family members.
He was born on April 7, 1930 in Dawes, W.Va. to the late Harry and Ruby Droddy. He held a number of jobs over the years including Kroger's, Wilmington Housing Authority, and operating Hardscrabble Country Store for a decade after moving to lower Delaware in 1976.
He enjoyed his family, outdoors, tinkering in his garage, TV, and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Jean Mays, Wilda Morgan, Marge Aduddell; and his brother, Charles Droddy.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Peggy R. Droddy; his five children, Danny Droddy (Judy) of Willow Street, Pa., Kenneth Droddy (Libby) of Lincoln, David Droddy (Molly) of Greenwood, Kathi Wyatt (Jim) of Milford, and Terri Mitchell (Troy) of Ellendale; his 13 grandchildren; and his 21 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held privately.
Arrangements in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Homes, Milford.
