HOUSTON - Richard A Yost, 84, of Houston, passed away in his home on Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born on May 19, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Paul and Helen Yost. He was a postmaster in Houston for 34 years and general manager of the Postal Credit Union for 25 years. He was also a lifetime member of Houston Volunteer Fire Company for 65 years. Mr. Yost was a collector of coins and Dept. 56 houses. He also loved trains. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Yost; a sister, Ethel; and a brother, William. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy; a sister-in-law, Sandra Cole; a brother-in-law, Gene (Chris) Slaughter; a sister-in-law, Lois Perry; a sister-in-law, Karin Yost; nephews, Beau Cole, Frank (Judy) Slaughter, Hal Brown; nieces, Dawn (Bill) Skinner, Terri Ford, Carrie Yost; great nephews, Shelby Slaughter, Ryan Brown; great niece, Stacey (Donovan) Hollingsworth; and great-great-nephew, Karson Hollingsworth. And his little buddy, Cody. A funeral service will be held Monday 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front Street, in Milford, where friends may call after 12:00 noon. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Houston Volunteer Fire Company 143 Broad Street Houston, Delaware 19964.
