BRIDGEVILLE - Rachel M. Myer died Thursday, June 7, 2018. She was born in Seaford on April 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Charles and Bertie Mae Williamson McDowell. Rachel was employed as a waitress in the early years until she and her husband purchased what became Myer's Groc. Rachel owned and operated the store until her retirement in 1995. It was then passed to her youngest son and his wife. In addition to working full time, she could always be found in the kitchen cooking up something good for her family and anyone else that was around. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Sr. in 2007; a daughter, Sharon I. Myer in 1980; and a granddaughter, Jennifer A. Myer in 1995. Rachel is survived by a daughter, Sandra R. Wilson (Billy); four sons, Ralph W. Myer Jr., Jeffrey A. Myer, Randall R. Myer, and Douglas J. Myer (Glenda) all of Bridgeville; five grandchildren, Andrea, Ralph III, Hope, Beth, and Douglas Jr.; and ten great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market Street, Greenwood, DE 19950. Interment will be held at Bridgeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Delaware SPCA of Sussex County or Delaware Hospices in Milford.
