MILFORD - Pearl S. (Lockwood) Carty passed from this earth Thursday, March 1, 2007, in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. She was 73.
Ms. Carty was born May 8, 1933, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Annabelle J. and George Ross Lockwood. She was raised in Milford.
She was a 1952 graduate of Howard High School. She attended Brown Technical School and Delaware Technical Community College and retired after more than 25 years of registered nursing service from Christiana Care Hospital.
Ms. Carty served in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wahnetah M. Carty.
She is survived by a sister, Edna Wright of Wilmington; her former husband, Irvin H. Carty Jr. of Wilmington; her children and their spouses, Beverly Moseley of New Castle, Michael A. and Andrea Carty of Wilmington, Irvin H. III and Sieglinde Carty of EI Paso, Texas; Maynard D. and Elisabeth Carty of Gales Ferry Conn., Lewis P. and Karen Carty of Wilmington, Lisa Carty of Wilmington, Joanna D. Carty of Wilmington and Valarie M. Carty of Alexandria, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in House of Wright Mortuary, 208 E. 35th St., Wilmington.
Homegoing service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Hanover Presbyterian Church, 1801 N. Jefferson St., where friends may call one hour earlier.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
