Pauline B. 'Polly' Ward, 81

MILFORD - Pauline B. 'Polly' Ward, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at home. Mrs. Ward was the daughter of the late Stephen and Susan Bakota. She worked at Montgomery Ward as an Assistant Manager for many years until the store closed. She was a member of Houston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing things for others, especially sewing, crocheting and baking. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Todd Layton, in 2004; five brothers Michael Bakota, Andrew Bakota, Steve Bakota, Andrew Kovach and William Kovach; and two sisters Irene Kaplan and Katherine Smith. She is survived by her husband of 64 years William A. Ward; a son William Michael Ward, of Milford; two daughters Donna Layton and her husband Bruce, of Randleman, NC and Sandra Nickerson and her fiancé Jay Truitt of Harrington; two grandchildren Daryl Layton and Jenna White; three great-grandchildren Ashley Layton, Kasyn White and Kiersyn White; and two sisters Mary Hendricks and Julia Camper, both of Harrington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford where friends may call from 12 - 2 p.m.. Entombment will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Houston United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 43, Houston, DE 19954.
