Pantalion "Pete" Padilla, 85
DOVER - Pantalion "Pete" Padilla of Dover died Friday, Aug. 24, 2007, at home. He was 85.
Mr. Padilla was born July 27, 1922, in Castroville, Texas, to the late Narciso Padilla and Macedonia Pedrosa Padilla.
Mr. Padilla served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany and France as a truck driver, cook and rifleman.
He worked civil service at the Dover Air Force Base for 20 years retiring in 1980 as a mechanic.
In his youth Mr. Padilla worked as a produce supplier from his own farm in Texas.
More recently he worked as a bartender at Dover Downs, the Officers Club and mostly at the NCO Club.
Mr. Padilla was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, and was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover.
He loved to go and watch horse racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Janie Lovegrove in 1998; two sisters, Isabel Reveles and Janie Pappas; and a brother Jack Padilla.
Mr. Padilla is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Alicia Padilla; three sons, Antonio Padilla and his wife, Deborah of Dayton, Ohio, Andres Padilla Sr. and his wife, Stella of Kenton and Ernest Padilla and his wife, Debbie of Dayton; his daughter, Alicia Kappe and her husband, Bernard of Dover; his son-in-law, Clarence Lovegrove of Valrico, Fla.; five brothers, Simon Padilla, Victor Padilla, Jerry Padilla and Pedro Padilla, all of San Antonio, and Lucio Padilla of Racine, Wis.; four sisters, Connie Padilla, Vicki Hall, Mary Arraiga and Josie Padilla, all of San Antonio; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover.
Interment will be at Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover.
