Myrtle Jeanette Wirick, 87

HARRINGTON - Myrtle Jeanette Wirick of Harrington died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Wirick was born Sept. 15, 1919, in Brownsville, daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel (Kates) Tatman.

She was a graduate of Harrington High School, where she was valedictorian of the class of 1937.

Mrs. Wirick was a homemaker.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and watching the Baltimore Orioles play baseball on television.

Mrs. Wirick was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Harrington, for 50 years where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Harrington High School Alumni Association, served as Harrington High School class of '37 historian for several years and was a member of the Harrington Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lionel E. Wirick Sr. in 2000.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lionel E. Wirick Jr. and Larry J. and Shirley Wirick, all of Harrington; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Carole J. and Dale Kats of Lansing, Ill., Janet M. and Jeffery Rettig of Harrington and Lisa A. and Edward Ellingsworth of Felton; a brother, James Tatman of Denton, Md.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jim and Katie Wirick, Kimberly Kats, Tracy Dotson, Christopher and Nicole Rettig, Jason and Carrie Ellingsworth and Christina Ellingsworth; her great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Jessica Wirick, Dominque Collier and Nicholas Rettig.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 343, Harrington, DE 19952.
