Moses Rasin, 92

MILLINGTON, Md. - Moses Rasin of Millington died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, in Chester River Health Center, Chestertown. He was 92.

Mr. Rasin was born June 12, 1914, in Queen Anne's County, son of the late Sarah Meade and George Rasin.

He received his formal education in the Millington school system.

Mr. Raisin later enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In his youth, he loved visiting his family, talking to friends, working in the yard and gardening.

He was employed by Local 199 until his retirement.

Mr. Rasin was a member of Graves Chapel UAME Church, where he served as a sexton for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Hines; his son, George Arthur; his daughter, Myrtle Loraine; five sisters; two brothers; three sisters-in-law; and eight brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his daughters and a son-in-law, Delores and Dwight Phillips and Linda Rasin and Jervis, all of Millington; a son and a daughter-in-law, William and Evangelist Louise Rasin of Dover, Del.; two sisters, Sarah Graham of Philadelphia and Corine Woods of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Emma Elliott and Edna Lewis, both of Pondtown; nine grandchildren, Dana Phillips, Monnie Phillips and his wife, Tanisha, Lakira Rochester, Devin Rasin, DiMere Rasin, ChriShyra Blackson, Antwan Rasin, Antonio Rasin and Anthony Rasin; five great-grandchildren, Shykia Hackett, Shaquille Cain, Silas Phillips, Cristen Phillips, Desire Raisin and Devin Marquis Rasin.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Graves Chapel UAME Church, Big Stone Road, Millington, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Pondtown.

Arrangements are by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
