HARRINGTON - Miriam R. Bolich of Harrington died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at her home. She was 80.
Miriam was born in Mt. Carmel, Pa., to Carl and Stella Ruths.
She was a statistician for the U.S. government, serving at the Pentagon in Washington, and in Colorado. She retired after 20 years of service.
After retiring, she moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., where she owned and operated several hotels, including Rivershore and Pirates Cove.
She returned home to Chester, Pa., where she married her high school sweetheart, Harry, in 1972. While in Pennsylvania, she worked for the PNB Bank.
They moved to Delaware in 1989.
During her time in Delaware she was a faithful volunteer at the Harrington Public Library and the Harrington Senior Center. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library.
She loved music. While in Florida and Pennsylvania, she was a member of the Sweet Adelines.
She was also a pianist.
She loved reading and working on family genealogy. Needlepoint was also a favorite pastime which she enjoyed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Charles Hirst; and a brother, Carl J. Ruths.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Harry P. Bolich; six stepchildren, Harry Bolich of Wisconsin, John Bolich of Memphis, Tenn., Margaret (Gussie) Judge of Brookhaven, Pa., Christine M. Breen of Ridley Park, Pa., Barbara Bolich of Denver, and Mary Bolich of Middletown, Conn.; one sister, Joanne Kornacki of Woodbridge, Va.; one grandson, Gregory Charles of Daytona Beach; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Hirst of Daytona Beach; and several nieces and nephews in Virginia, Maryland and Georgia.
Services were private.
Donations may be made in her name to the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming St., Harrington, DE 19952.
