Posted

MILFORD — The Rotary Club of Milford’s Educational Foundation is accepting applications for nine scholarships through April 20.

Applicants must be graduating seniors of any high school who reside in the Milford School District.

The first seven scholarships will be based on the candidates’ leadership, character, citizenship, academic achievement and original essays. Applicants will be disqualified if they use artificial intelligence to write an essay or answer questions.

These awards include:

  • Two $2,500 Traditional Scholarships
  • One $2,500 Warnell Scholarship, for which an applicant must be planning a career in science or math
  • One $2,500 Interact Scholarship, for which an applicant must be a member of an Interact Club
  • One $2,500 Service Above Self Scholarship, which places emphasis on community service
  • One $2,500 Perseverance Scholarship, which focuses on determination
  • One $2,500 Dr. William Warren Scholarship, for which preference will be given to an applicant majoring in education

Additionally, this year, the foundation will be offering two Dr. Joseph L. Warnell Charitable Trust Scholarships for one year’s tuition, room, board, books and supplies at the University of Delaware, valued at $38,000. These grants can be renewed for up to three more years.

Applicants for these two awards must plan to pursue, or currently be working toward, an undergraduate degree in STEM or any major in health care for humans or animals.

Interested students should review eligibility criteria found on the application. Finalists will be contacted to schedule a brief interview at the Milford Public Library on May 2.
