DOVER - Mike Lanier "Bird" Ridgway, of Dover, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. He was 50. He was born on Aug. 14, 1961, in Dover, to the late Floyd "Perk" Ridgway and Anna B. Ridgway Sammons. Mike worked in construction for many years and enjoyed maintaining his yard and loved gardening. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Mike loved cooking and was known for his specialty, "hot dog soup." He was baptized in 2008, and a member of Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Ronald E. Johnson; and brother-in-law, Warren Pritchett, Jr. He leaves to mourn sister, Shirley Pritchett of Dover; brothers, Floyd "Perky" Ridgway and his wife Dinita of Dover, Lee Ridgway and his wife Connie of Cheswold; sister-in-law, Judith Johnson; his godson, Lee Ridgway II of Dover; a special aunt and uncle, Jimmy and Connie Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, 756 Main Street, Cheswold. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in the church yard cemetery. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
