DOVER - Merrill L. Campbell, of Dover, formerly of Baltimore, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at home, surrounded by his family after his courageous battle with cancer. He was 69.
He was born in Baltimore on June 8, 1938, to the late Elsie Campbell.
Mr. Campbell retired from Carlton Bank of Baltimore, and then decided to pursue a bachelor of science degree from Coppin State University, Baltimore.
He will be sadly missed, especially by many of his bowling friends in Perry Hall, Md., and Dover Brunswick Bowling Lanes.
Special thanks are extended to Compassionate Care Hospice, especially to Carol, Kathy, and Maurine, for the wonderful service they provided.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Carolanne G. Campbell.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his current wife, Elizabeth A. Campbell; daughter, Tiffany M. Campbell; granddaughter, Tyanna C. Summerville; four stepchildren, Tamara L. Burns-Hill, Tyrone Roast, Toby Watson, all of Dover, and Niobi Watson of Northhampton, England; four step-grandchildren, La'Keshia, Dominique, Anthony, and Alyssa; a dear friend, Joseph Evans and his wife Lois; and a host of friends and bowling buddies.
Viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the Minus Funeral Home, Dover, where a short going home service will follow from 10-11 a.m.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
