FARMINGTON - Mattie E. Bowman, of Farmington passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Milford Center. Mattie was born on March 27, 1929 in Houston, to the late David W. and Myrtle LeGates Messick. In her earlier years Mattie worked for the Ace Dress Company in Harrington and starting in 1971 she worked many years for L & M Fashions in Harrington. In her later years she worked for Modern Maturity in Milford. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and working in her yard tending to her flowers. Mattie was fond of red glass and red birds, and she loved her pets. She was a former member of Houston UMC. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; three brothers, David, James, and Robert Messick; and a sister, Sara Mae Wilson. Mattie is survived by her three children, Terry Lynn Lloyd and her husband Mike of Georgetown, Cliff and Tim Bowman both of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, Adriann, Brandon, Paul, Robin, Cliff, Matt, Melissa, and Nick; nine great grandchildren, John, Eva, Stevie, Cheyenne, Coltyn, Brantley, Luke, Kayleigh, and Katherine; one sister JoAnn Benson of Thompsonville; two brothers, Richard Messick of Mastin Corner, and Paul Messick of Brownsville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St, Greenwood, DE 19950. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral services. Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood.
