WILMINGTON - Mary K. Barcus of Wilmington died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in her home at Gilpin Hall. She was 98.
Mrs. Barcus was born in Germany on Dec. 13, 1909, to the late August and Elizabeth (Hawath) Krause. She was brought to America when she was 5 years old.
She married her husband of 57 years, the late Edward N. Barcus.
Mrs. Barcus was a 50-year member of the Five Point Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She formerly lived at Highpoint Park, Frederica.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Gilpin Hall and Delaware Hospice for the excellent care they gave Mary. They are, one and all, very special people.
She is survived by her sister-in-law and her husband, Skippy Lyness-Blanch and her husband Burton L. Blanch Sr. of Wilmington; a niece, Candy Lyness Winn of North Carolina; and a nephew, Stephen E. Lyness of Wilmington.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
