DOVER - Mary E. (May) Mellin died peacefully on July 28, 2015 at Cadia Capital Nursing Home in Dover. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary E. (Hassey) Bullock. May was a 1941 graduate of West Catholic High School and lived in Delaware County, PA for 44 years before moving to Dover in 1995. She was an active member of Holy Cross Church in Dover. In her later years, May revitalized her ability to play the harmonica and loved to entertain with it. She loved music, especially the old songs, and all things Irish. After the passing of her husband, she took an active role at The Modern Maturity Center where she sang with The Melody Makers and sold raffle tickets for the monthly dinners. May was known for dressing up for each and every occasion. While residing at Heritage Assisted Living, she helped with various activities, including packing Christmas gifts for wounded soldiers, and back packs for back-to-school, as well as other volunteer jobs. Besides her parents, May is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles T. Mellin. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Canalichio and husband James, of Dover, and Mary O'Gorman, of Co. Clare, Ireland; three grandchildren, James C. Canalichio and wife Dawn, of Dover, Beth Alessandro and husband Nick, of Dover, and Thomas Canalichio and wife Jenny, of Charlottesville, VA; along with three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery located in Yeadon, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in May's Memory be made to Daughters of Charity Retirement Fund, 4330 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63108-2622. Life's End Services are by Michael J.
