CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Mary C. Douglas of Chestertown departed this life Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in Chester River Hospital. She was 74.
She was born July 21, 1933, in Painter, Va., the daughter of Minnie Taylor and George Rue.
Mary attended Kennard School and lived in Churchill, then moved to Chestertown.
She loved children and making people smile.
Her favorite saying was "This is God"s Body, Let Me Rest."
Mary was a den mother and a Sunday school teacher.
She loved to minister to you in her own way.
Her favorite song "Your Was Grace and Mercy."
Mary attended Bethel AME Church, Churchill.
She leaves to cherish two daughters, Brenda Douglas of Chestertown and Karen Wright of Ridgely; a son, Clifton and his wife, Cindy Wright of Chestertown; a sister, Bertha Copper of Chestertown; nine grandchildren, Shawn Roberts, Taray Wright, Shuron Douglas, Dermaih Wright, Gregory Snowden, Shelton Stansbury, Ikea Wright, Tiffany Demby and Tarell Douglas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bethel AME Church in Churchill, where friends may view two hours prior.
