DENTON, Md. - Marvin L. Butler of Denton died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in Memorial Hospital at Easton, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 86.
Mr. Butler was born July 2, 1920, at home in Hobbs, son of the late Lewis and Georgia (Lister) Butler.
He was a graduate of Caroline High School
He farmed most of his life. He had worked for Caroline County Roads, and retired in the early 1990s after 20 years of service.
Mr. Butler loved gardening and was well-known for his pole beans and tomatoes, and loved fox-chasing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn M. Butler; a brother, Elmer Butler; and three sisters, Blanche Brooke, Alice L. Price and Marietta Ramsburg.
His wife of 65 years, Doris Madeline (Roe) Butler, and their dog, Sandy, died in the same accident.
He is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Jackie M. and Carol Butler of Denton; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Shirley Faye and Bob Willin of Federalsburg, and Madeline D. and Charlie Morris of Cordova; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Fifth and Franklin streets, Denton.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the church.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Denton Ambulance Fund, 400 S. Fifth Ave., Denton, MD 21629.
