Mark Edward Willey, 51

SMRYNA - Mark Edward Willey, 51, of Smyrna, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009. Born on Nov. 7, 1957, in Wilmington, he was the son of John R. Willey, Sr. and the late Janet M. (Foraker) Willey. He graduated from Smyrna High School in 1975 and proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines. He was a member of the American Legion in Smyrna. Mark previously worked at the Delaware Correctional Center, Home Depot and Dover Downs. Most recently he worked in the maintenance department for the Kent County SPCA. Mark loved animals, history, working on the computer and especially enjoyed watching NASCAR races with his mother and will be remembered for his gift to write poems and short stories. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dawn Willey-Minner. He is survived by his father; a brother, John R. Willey, Jr. of Smyrna; three sisters, Debbie Kendall of Florida, Trish Robb and Jennie Wilson, both of Smyrna; several nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Sue Nichols. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where family and friends may visit from 1 to 2 p.m. Mark will be laid to rest with his mother and sister in Townsend Cemetery.
