lewes - Marjorie A. Parker passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 13,2016. She was born Thursday, Oct. 28, 1926 in Clearfield, Pa., daughter of the late, Raymond and Della (Haney) Ogden. Mrs. Parker was a member of Mount Joy Methodist Church, Clearfield, and moved to Lewes in 1952. She joined Bethel United Methodist Church in 1954, and was an active, faithful supporter of the church, a member of Mary Martha Circle, and the Eastern Star Unity Chapter 16. Mrs. Parker and Charles D. Parker, II, her loving husband of 55 years, were the original operators of the Dairy Queen in Lewes. Over the years she was a generous supporter of the church operations, construction, and missions, as well as the Salvation Army, the Salesian Missions, the Disabled Veterans of America, and many others. She was a member of many community groups: the Red Hatters, the RSVP (Corporation for National and Community Service), the Lewes Senior Center, Lewes Historical Society, and a 50+ year member of the GFWC Zwaanendael Woman's Club in Lewes. She and Charlie supported the Church's Cub and Boy Scout Troops, and they were founding members of the Church's Square Dance Club. Mrs. Parker enjoyed travel, the beach, and the beauty of nature, especially trees, flowers, birds, and rocks. She loved The Lord, her family, her friends, and her church, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Parker Greene, and her son, Charles D. Parker, III. She is survived by her son, Gary V. Parker, Sr. and his wife, Debbie Lewis Parker; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. 4th Street, Lewes, Del., where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 A.M. Private burial will be held at a later date at the Vincent Meeting House in Chester Springs, Pa. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Bethel United Methodist Church at the address above, or Order of Eastern Star, Masonic Hall, 116 1/2 W. Second Street, Lewes, DE 19958. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes, DE.
