Marion Elizabeth Metheny-Wessel, 69
DOVER - Marion Elizabeth Metheny-Wessel of Dover died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 69.
She was born Aug. 25, 1937, in Dover, daughter of the late Harrington M. and Della Willis Case.
Mrs. Metheny-Wessel was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1955.
She attended Beebe Nursing School for approximately 1½ years.
Mrs. Metheny-Wessel retired from Wilmington Trust in 2000 with 25 years service. She enjoyed her retirement as a homemaker and especially enjoyed being a grandmother.
Her many hobbies included gardening, camping and horse riding.
Mrs. Metheny-Wessel was a member of the Woodside United Methodist Church and the Maryland Volunteer Mounted Patrol at Fair Hill, Md.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years Eugene Metheny in 1996.
She is survived by her husband of seven years, Reese Wessel; three children, Mel Metheny of Clayton; Jane Lawrence and her husband, Jack of Camden and Steven Metheny and his wife, Jennifer of Dover; a brother and a sister-in-law, Willis H. and Glenda Case of Dover; a sister and a brother-in-law, Della Ann and Robert Watkinson of Harrington; stepchildren, Gary Wessel and his wife, Maureen of Dover, Beverly Bazan and her husband, Jim of Rose City, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Emily Metheny and Mallory Metheny of Clayton, Amber Lawrence, Brittney Lawrence and Cody Lawrence, all of Camden, Stephanie Metheny and Damian Metheny, both of Dover; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
