Marie was born in Elkton, daughter of the late Glenn E. and Pearl (Bartlett) Doyle. After graduating high school, Marie attended Salisbury State Teachers College and graduated with her degree in Early Childhood Education in 1953. She taught first and second grade and even after retiring to raise her children she would still substitute teach when needed. She later worked as a librarian with the Georgetown Public Library, where she loved developing and coordinating the Story Time program.
Marie met the love of her life and dance partner, Herm, with whom she shared 59 loving years and missed dearly. Marie and Herm were very active with CHEER activity centers and volunteered to assist with many CHEER services. Marie was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Georgetown. Marie had a green thumb and especially enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and keeping a lovely yard.
In addition to her parents; and husband, Herman; Marie was preceded in death by her four brothers and five sisters. She is survived by her children, Mark (Peggy), Dan (Becky), Nancy Schirmer (Allan), Steve (Karen Sue), Ann Bastianelli-Gilkerson (Joe), Paul (Leslie), John (Fatima); 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
