Maria Charlotte Theresa Deckelman, 65
ROCK HALL, Md. - Maria Charlotte Theresa Deckelman of Rock Hall died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown. She was 65.
She was born in Baltimore on Feb. 2, 1942, daughter of the late Frank and Charlotte (Gorge) Gostomski.
Mrs. Deckelman graduated from Kenwood High School, class of 1960, and attended the University of Maryland.
She married Alan David "Mort" Deckelman on Oct. 31, 1973; they moved from Baltimore to Rock Hall in 1981.
Together, Mrs. Deckelman and her husband developed, owned and operated Long Cove Marina in Rock Hall, where she was the business manager. Mrs. Deckelman had the brains and her husband the brawn.
She held a "six pack" captain"s license for more than 15 years.
Mrs. Deckelman enjoyed baking, sewing and reading.
She attended St. John"s Catholic Church in Rock Hall and was a member of the Maryland Waterman"s Association.
Mrs. Deckelman was a tremendously hard working woman, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David Dvorak II and his wife Georgene of Baltimore, Alan Deckelman Jr. and his wife Ashley of Rock Hall, and William "Bill" Deckelman and his friend Heather Brown of Rock Hall; his brothers, Gregory Gostomski of Florida and Bernard Gostomski of Maryland; her sisters, Silvia Alexander of Florida, Dorothea Manning and her husband Bud of Maryland, Andrea Daia and her husband Tony of West Virginia, and Gloria Trombero and her husband Ray of Maryland; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Gage, Gannon and Gunnar Dvorak.
Funeral services will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where relatives and friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, and on Friday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Interment will be private.
