Lula M. (Starkey) Knight, 90

CLAYTON - Lula M. (Starkey) Knight of Clayton died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 90.

Mrs. Knight was born May 17, 1917, the daughter of the late Lewis and Pearle Ireland Starkey.

She worked as a supervisor in the sewing department for Playtex in Dover and as a bookkeeper for Knight"s Welding in Clayton.

Lula loved her family dearly, enjoyed cooking for them and friends, and was an avid gardener.

She was a longtime member of Ewell"s St. Paul United Methodist Church in Clayton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Knight.

She is survived by two sons, John E. Knight Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Jean and Jay A. Knight and his wife Jennifer, all of Smyrna; a daughter, Beverly J. Knight and her partner, Allen Atkins of Clayton; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Urian; brother-in-law, Preston Knight and his wife, Thelma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Ewell"s St. Paul United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 266 Clayton, DE 19938; The Alzheimer"s Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington DE 19805; or the Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE 19977.

Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors, Inc., 29 South Main Street, Smyrna.
