Luis M. Monteiro, 75

DOVER - Luis M. Monteiro, of Dover, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, in his home, with family by his side. He was 75.

He was born Aug. 7, 1932, in Manhattan, N.Y., to the late Luis and Palmy (Matos) Monteiro.

He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover.

Mr. Monteiro retired from the town of Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y.

He was the patriarch of a devoted Long Island-based family.

Mr. Monteiro was preceded in death by his wife, Emilia R. (Clement) Monteiro; and his daughter, Deborah Monteiro.

He is survived by a daughter, Michele Machado; a daughter, Loretta LoCastro; a brother, Frank Monteiro; grandchildren, Dominick, Luis, Anthony, Phillip, Miguel, Oswaldo and Noel; and a great-granddaughter, Emilia Savannah.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be a 1 p.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover.

Burial will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 Lotus Plaza, Dover, DE 19901.
