Mesa, ArizONA - Chester "Chet" Wallack, Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) passed away on Jan. 21, 2015 at Mountain Vista Hospital in Mesa, Ariz. Chet was born in Larned, Kan. He was the oldest of three sons born to Chester and Pauline Wallack. He earned his BS from the University of Kansas in 1964, and his MBA from Southern Illinois University. Chet began a 20 year career as a pilot with the USAF in 1968, and retired from the USAF in 1988. During that time he also worked at Dover Air Force Base in the Command Post and then Combat Plans and Exercises. Following retirement, Chet pursued several entrepreneurial and artistic threads. He developed the subdivision, Felton West and created several small businesses, including cabinet making and jewelry design. He formed deep and abiding friendships in the USAF and during his various travels. Chet knew no strangers. Friends appreciated his knowledge, wisdom and wit. His avuncular charm and informed repartee were infectious. Chet collected people like some people collect things. After living in Dover, Delaware for 30 years, Chet and his wife explored many parts of North America in their motor coach and then settled in Gold Canyon, Ariz. in 2013. Chet was married for fifty-one years to Joycelyn, who was the love of his life, his partner, travel companion, and chief navigator in his journey through life. Chet is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Austin Wallack; and his nephew, Tyler Wallack. He is survived by his wife, Joycelyn; his brother, Lynn Wallack; a niece; and two nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens, 6747 E. Broadway, Mesa, Arizona 85206 on March 17, 2015. The family suggests memorials in memory of Chester L.
