ROXANA — Lower Sussex finished fourth in the Senior League softball World Series after falling to U.S. West, 9-7, in the third-place game this afternoon.
The host District III champions tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning before U.S. West came back with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh.
U.S West, from Honolulu, Hawaii, finishes the tournament with a record of 5-2.
Lower Sussex, which beat Europe-Africa in Friday’s quarterfinals, ends up with a mark of 3-3.
Lower Sussex fell to U.S, Central, 6-0, in the semifinals on Saturday.. Central also beat East champion MOT, 14-0, in Friday’s quarterfinals.
The championship game between U.S. Central (6-0) from and U.S. Southeast (3-3) from Irmo, S.C. will be played today at 7 p.m.

Maryland 5, MOT 3: The Delaware state champions lost their opener in the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Sunday in Bristol, Conn.
MOT will play again on Monday at 5 p.m. in an elimination game in the four-team bracket. The Middletown-area all-stars had been 5-0 in their first two all-star tourneys.
Maryland, from West Salisbury, returns to action on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
