Lillian E. Stroud, 69 DOVER - Lillian E. Stroud died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. She was 69. Lillian was born in Baco, Raton, Fla., on Nov. 30, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ronah Stubbs. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She gave her life to God at a young age and was a member of Bibleway Temple COGIC She was known for her cooking and enjoyed doing crafts and going to craft shows. She had a kind heart when it came to helping and doing anything for family and friends. She worked as a foster grandmother in the Capital School District. She spent many years as a CNA until retirement for health reasons. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Stubbs, Sr.; mother, Ronah R. Stubbs; four brothers, Moses Stubbs, Samuel Stubbs, Jr., Daniel Stubbs, and Henry Stubbs; one sister, Miriam Minus; and a daughter, Lesia Ann Stroud. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Ronah R. Marshall, Carlet M. Stubbs-Clarke, both of Dover, and Veronica D. Stubbs-Mesumebe and a son-in-law, Ekiti G. Mesumbe of Laurel, Md.; a sister-in-law, Mayretha Stubbs of Long Branch, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Quinton A. Sullivan of New Castle, Tinisa Marshall, Jessica Marshall, Samuel Stubbs, Leshia Clarke and Michael Worthy, of Dover, and Arianna and Devine Mesumbe of Laurel, Md.; two great-grandchildren, JaQuan Sullivan and MaKayla Scott of Dover; a special friend that was like a daughter to her, Johana Thomas of Dover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be noon, Saturday, Dec. 5, at Bibleway Temple COGIC, 56 South Kirkwood Street, Dover. Viewing will be held two hours prior to service. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Homes.
