DOVER - Leroy E. Rost passed away in the early hours of Monday, February 15, 2021. Leroy was born in Bueno Park, Calif. on September 30, 1953 to the late Garland McCoy.
Leroy was a dedicated father and family man. He always put his family first and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Leroy worked as both an onsite contractor and computer programmer for the U.S. Navy and as a volunteer firefighter. As a contractor, he worked at Joint Base Mcguire-Dix-Lakehurst in the hanger where the Hindenburg was held. Leroy was very dedicated to his communities in both New Jersey and Delaware as a firefighter. He served with both Leipsic Fire Company and Eagle Hose CO #4 in Keyport, N.J. for many years.
In addition to his mother, Leroy was preceded in death by his brother, Lavern Rost.
He is survived by wife of 40+ years, Audrey Marie Fisher; son, Timothy Rost and wife Cassandra of Frederica; step-sons, Matthew Fisher of Boyton Beach, Fla. and Daniel Fisher of Harrington; grandchildren, Brianna and Kaitlynn Rost; step-grandchildren, John, Aaron, Hannah, and Rowyan Fisher; father, James McCoy of Sunrise, Fla.; sisters, Vonnie Pauley, Leanna Lambert and Lois Schultz; half-brother, Michael McCoy; niece, Jennifer Tossie of Sunrise, Fla. and her three children Garrett, Weston, and Kylie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 3 p.m., at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Friends may call an hour prior.
