OCEAN VIEW - Leora Reimers of Ocean View, formerly of Addison, Ill., and Washington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in the Milford Center. She was 93.
Mrs. Reimers was born July 26, 1913, in Julian, Neb., at home, first born of Lester and Virlega (Tompkins) Tucker.
She graduated from Julian High School of which she was the valedictorian of her class.
She moved to Washington in 1934 and started her career with the government and worked 40 years before retiring.
She then moved to Golden Valley, Minn, after retiring in 1974 from the government and worked in private industry for three years before retiring completely. She then moved to Addison to be near her daughter, Marlene and family.
On Sept. 16, 2004, her daughter, Maxine, went to Illinois and brought her to Delaware to live with her and her husband. She made her home in Ocean View for almost three years.
She attended her granddaughter Kimberly and David"s wedding on Oct. 8, 2005, in Indianapolis. Her new great-granddaughter arrived on June 5, 2007, although she never met her but did see her picture.
Leora loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to them she was "Maw Maw" She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed quilting, gardening and bowling.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and John Tucker.
She is survived by two daughters, Maxine Frazier and her husband, William G. of Ocean View and Marlene Walton and her husband, Raymond L. of Bloomingdale, Ill.; six grandchildren, William Frazier and his wife, Lori, Thomas Frazier, Robert Frazier and his wife, Kathleen, Raymond Walton, Lynn Fitman and Kimberly Flynn and her husband David; five great-grandchildren Patrick Frazier, Tyler Frazier, Kelly Frazier, Bethany Frazier and Riley Flynn.
A funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View, where friends may call after 3 p.m.
Burial will be at noon Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave., Suitland, Md.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21805; or to a charity of choice.
