SEAFORD - Leonard C. Wittenberg of Seaford died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, in Methodist Manor House, Seaford. He was 88.
Mr. Wittenberg was born in 1918 in Wilmington, son of the late Helen and John Wittenberg.
He served with the Royal Air Force in the Glider Operation during World War II.
Mr. Wittenberg was the first Carter Carburetor specialist in Wilmington. He worked at All American Engineering and retired from the DuPont Co. as a quality-control engineer.
He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons' Armstrong Lodge 26 and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows' Delaware Lodge 1.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara "Jean" Wittenberg; a grandson, David Hook; and a brother, Jack Wittenberg.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dee and Leonard Hook of West Chester, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Heather Hook of Wilmington.
Services will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Methodist Manor House Benevolence Fund, 1001 Middleford Road, Seaford, DE 19973.
