NEWARK - Leon P. Watson of Newark passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Churchmans Village. He was 90.
Leon was born in Harrington to the late Linden and Alice Watson. His wife of 25 years, Mildred (New) Watson, also preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Army veteran, who served in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands as a combat engineer. He helped build the Alaska Highway, which spanned 1,500 miles.
Leon retired from A. I. DuPont in 1982.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannette Malascalza of Bear; a sister, Doris Carlisle and her husband Leon of Harrington; and three grandchildren, Edward, Nicholas and Anthony Malascalza.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing in celebration of Leon's life on Tuesday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Beeson Funeral Home of Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Fox Run. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
