May DiFronzo, 89
DOVER - Lena "Lynn" May DiFronzo passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, surrounded by her children and dear friends. Mrs. DiFronzo was born August 6, 1932, in Vinton, Virginia to the late Frank and Sarah Goad.
She joined the United States Air Force, and was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., where she served as a flight attendant on VIP flights to Europe and North Africa. While stationed at McGuire, she met the love of her life, then TSgt Vito "Dee" DiFronzo, an Air Force Flight Engineer. They were married 2 years later, and Lynn separated from the Air Force. They went on to be stationed at Anderson Air Base, Guam during the height of the Vietnam War and then were transferred to Dover AFB in 1970. They settled in Dover where Vito retired in 1993.
Lynn's focus was always on supporting Vito's military career, raising her children, and service to the community. Lynn enjoyed all people and was known for her bright smile, quick wit, classic style and engaging friendliness. She was a local volunteer at the Junior Board and Gift shop at (BayHealth) Kent General Hospital for over 30 years, USO, Ladies Auxiliary and Holy Cross School.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, CMSgt Vito DiFronzo (Ret); and grandson, Jesse DiFronzo.
She is survived by her son, Col. USAF (Ret.), Vincent DiFronzo, of Annandale, Va.; daughter Deanne DiFronzo of Milford, Del.; grandson, Bobby DiFronzo of Fairfax, Va.; brother, Richard Goad of Vinton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like thank Vitas Health Care (Hospice) Center at Eden Hill for the extraordinary care that they provided for our dear mom.
Interment will be private at Arlington Cemetery.
