DOVER - Lena Louise Bryant Messick, age 91, of Dover, died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at Kent General Bay Health Hospital in Dover. She was born on Oct. 12, 1920 in Elkin, North Carolina to the late John R. and Emma Isaacs Bryant. She was a member of Edgehill Community Church of God, Dover Modern Maturity Center, Frederica Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bingo, singing and doing word search games. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Fredrick G. Messick in 1999; also a brother and two sisters. She is survived by her three sons, Larry Messick of Dover, Gene Messick of Odessa, and Robert Messick of Dover; a daughter, Phyllis Thomas of East Haven, Conn.; two sisters, Arlis Wolf, and Iona Brown; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty five great-grandchildren. Friends may call on this evening, Nov. 15, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus St., Dover. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Milton Kemp officiating at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover. The family would suggest donations be given to the following The Edgehill Community Church of God 702 Maple Parkway, Dover, DE 19901; Vitas Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713; or State Street Assisted Living, 21 North State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
