Leedom J. McCrea

MILLINGTON, Md. - Leedom J. McCrea, 89 of Millington, died April 14, 2011, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown. Mr. McCrea was born on Feb. 14, 1922, in Philadelphia, son of the late Andrew and Jeanne Leonard McCrea. He had served with the Merchant Marines during WWII aboard the USAT J.W. McAndrew, obtaining the rank of chief petty officer. For 40 years he worked at the family business, A.J. McCrea Roofing & Heating in Pennsylvania. He retired to Millington in the 1970's where he enjoyed fishing and boating. He was a devout Christian and a member of Holden's Chapel where he was a deacon. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and William McCrea. Mr. McCrea is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katherine C. McCrea; a daughter, Jeanne M. Rapp and her husband Michael of Chester Springs, Pa.; a son, William L. McCrea of Millington; a adopted daughter, Kathleen Wright of Dover; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call on Monday, April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena. A private burial will be held on Tuesday in Crumpton Cemetery. www.galenafuneralhomeofsls.com
